Dia 3: El Escorial y El Prado

Esta mañana, yo me desperté tarde y llegué tarde al lugar para desayunar. Entonces, yo no tuve nada para mi desayuno aparte de un postre. Necesitamos salir del hotel rápidamente hoy, porque ya estábamos tarde para tomar el Metro y un autobus al Escorial en las montañas.

This morning, I woke up late and arrived late to breakfast. As a result, I only ate some pasteries for breakfast. We had to leave from the hotel quickly because we had to take the metro and a bus to the Escorial in the mountains.




En el Escorial, un hombre viejo nos dijo detalles sobre los reyes de España y la influencia de religión católica en el país. Ahora, yo sé hechos muy interesantes y específicos sobre los reyes; por ejemplo, Carlos I de España fue también Carlos V de Alemania. Fueron dos nombres para la misma persona.

In the Escorial, a very old man told us a lot of detailed information about the kings of Spain and the influence of Catholicism on the country. Now, I know a lot of very interesting facts and details about the kings; for example, Carlos I of Spain was also Carlos V of Germany. There are two names for the same person.



Nosotros viajamos a un restaurante en el mismo área del Escorial y almorzamos. Yo decidí comer 'paella' porque había terminado una noche en Madrid con paella y me había parecido buenísimo. La comida en el restaurante fue deliciosa y nosotros comimos afuera, debajo del sol. Habían paraguas largos y no nos quemamos por el sol mientras disfrutamos del almuerzo.

We traveled to a local restaurant that was near the Escorial and had lunch. I decided to eat paella because I had paella for dinner the previous night and loved it. The food in the restaurant was delicious and we ate al fresco. There where table umbrellas that protected us from getting sun burned while we enjoyed our lunch.




Más tarde en el día, el grupo caminó al Prado para ver el arte clasica. Gracias a Dios, nadie se separó del resto del grupo y nosotros llegamos a tiempo. En el museo de arte, Maestra explicó algunos cuadros y los estudiantes debieron pensar en otros dibujos sin su ayuda. Yo había visto algunos de los cuadros antes de este viaje, cuando había hecho mi presentación para una sesión de Imersión. Mirarlos en persona fue muy, muy diferente que observarlos usando una computadora. El grupo regresó al hotel para descansar, escribir en estos cuadernos, y relajar después de El Prado. Esto es todo por ahora; ¡hasta mañana!


Later on in the day, our group walked to the Prado to see classical art. Thankfully, no one got distracted from the group and we arrived on time. In the museum, Maestra explained some of the painting tow us and we had to ponder the meaning of others on our own. I was familiar with some of the paintings because we had discussed the at our monthly immersion meetings. However, seeing them in person was a very, very different then looking at them on a computer screen. The group eventually returned to the hotel to rest, write their journals , and relax after the Prado. Those all for now, see you tomorrow.
